GBbet
Betting disclaimer
Everything on GBbet is written to help a reader in Great Britain size up a bookmaker, a market or an offer before putting money down. This page is the honest footnote to all of it: where our information stops, which document overrides ours, and what we cannot be held to. It applies to every page on gbbet.co.uk, including the blog, and it is incorporated into the terms of use.
We publish; we do not take bets
GBbet is a publication. Nobody can open an account here, deposit, stake, cash out or claim a bonus on this website. When a page describes a bookmaker, the contract you eventually sign is with that bookmaker, under its terms and its licence, and GBbet has no role in it. We are not financial advisers, tipsters or a betting exchange, and nothing we write is a personal recommendation. A review that ranks one operator above another is a comparison of published terms, not advice about what you in particular should do with your money.
A price is a snapshot
Odds quoted on this site illustrate how a market works or what a bookmaker was offering on the day we last looked. Nothing here updates in real time. Prices shorten and drift by the minute, a market can be suspended without warning, and the price you are actually given is the one confirmed on your bet slip. The same goes for settlement detail: each-way places and fractions, Rule 4 deductions after a withdrawal, dead-heat rules and the treatment of void legs in an accumulator are set by each operator’s own rules, and those rules can differ from one bookmaker to the next and from what a general explainer describes.
Offers expire, and the small print governs
Welcome offers and free bets are rewritten often, sometimes overnight. We describe an offer from the operator’s terms page on the day we checked it, but the minimum odds on a qualifying bet, the stake that counts, whether the free-bet stake comes back with the winnings, the expiry clock and the payment methods that are excluded can all change after we have read them. Since 19 January 2026 the Gambling Commission caps wagering requirements at ten times and no longer allows promotions that combine products, such as a sportsbook bonus bundled with casino spins; an advert elsewhere that ignores those limits is either out of date or not aimed at Great Britain. Eligibility rules – one offer per person, household or device, new customers only, identity checks before release – are the operator’s to apply, and it may refuse a bonus that it judges was claimed against them.
Licences, and where they apply
We only list bookmakers that hold a Gambling Commission licence when we check them, and we check the licensee against the Commission’s public register rather than a logo in a footer. A licence can still be suspended, varied or surrendered after our last check, and a trading name can move from one licensed company to another. Before you register, the register is the place to confirm who you are dealing with. The Commission’s licensing covers Great Britain; Northern Ireland has its own gambling legislation, and a reader outside the UK is subject to the law of wherever they are. If online betting is restricted where you live, nothing on this site is meant as an invitation to get round that.
No system beats the margin
Every bookmaker builds a margin into its prices, which is why the implied probabilities across a market add up to more than one hundred per cent. Over enough bets, that margin works for the operator. Our explainers on staking, accumulators, handicaps or bet types describe how those things work; they do not describe a way to profit, and we do not publish tips, predictions, “locks” or staking plans. Form guides, head-to-head records and other statistics quoted in our articles come from public sources, may be incomplete, and say nothing certain about the next result.
Checks the bookmaker will run
Licensed operators must verify your age and identity, and they are expected to look at whether your spending is affordable. That can mean being asked for documents, for evidence of income or for the source of your funds, and having deposits or withdrawals held while the check is done. These are conditions of the operator’s licence, not something we can speed up or waive, and a page here that mentions a payout time is quoting what the operator states rather than promising it.
Tax and personal circumstances
For most people betting for leisure in the UK, winnings are not taxed as income, because the duty is charged to the operator. Circumstances that are out of the ordinary – betting as a trade, living abroad, holding winnings in another country – can change that, and our pages are no substitute for an accountant who knows your situation.
Links and material from others
We link to bookmakers, payment providers, regulators and support services. Those sites are outside our control, and their own terms and data rules apply once you are there. Some links to bookmakers are commercial; Who pays us explains which ones and where that arrangement stops. Trademarks, logos and screenshots of operators remain theirs; we show them so that readers can recognise the brand.
Reliance and liability
We check our pages and fix them when we are told they are wrong, yet no page can be guaranteed accurate, whole or current at the moment you open it. To the extent the law allows, Harbourleigh Publishing Limited accepts no liability for a loss that follows from relying on our content, from a bet you place, from how an operator settles or voids it, or from an operator’s decision to restrict, close or investigate an account. Liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, such as for fraud, is not excluded. Complaints about an operator go first to that operator and then to the ADR provider its terms name.
Adults only, and help that is free
Gambling in Great Britain is closed to anyone under 18, and we write for grown-ups. If betting has stopped being a pastime you can walk away from, ring the National Gambling Helpline, 0808 8020 133; calls are free and confidential, day or night. GAMSTOP blocks you from every operator licensed for Great Britain in a single registration, and our page on gambling harm lists the deposit limits, time-outs and other tools each licensed bookmaker has to offer you.
Who stands behind this page
GBbet is published by Harbourleigh Publishing Limited, Grand Ocean Plaza, Ocean Village, Gibraltar GX11 1AA. If a figure on this site no longer matches what the operator shows you, write to [email protected] quoting the page address, and it will be rechecked.
Written and checked by the GBbet editorial desk
Licence numbers are checked against the Gambling Commission public register; bonus terms, minimum odds and payment limits are read from the operator’s own published pages. Nothing here is a personal opinion, and no page is rated by stars — how we work · about the desk.
