UK bookmaker reviews
Five bookmakers on this page hold a current UK Gambling Commission licence, and each one is here for a different reason. Nobody needs five betting accounts, but the case for two or three is straightforward: prices differ, and the features that return money over a season – Best Odds Guaranteed, extra places, market depth – are not spread evenly.
Sportsbooks licensed to take this market in Britain
Every site below holds a Gambling Commission licence. The order reflects what the sign-up offer is worth to a player here, not what an operator pays us — we set out how that works on our about page.

Which one, for what
- William Hill – horse racing. Best Odds Guaranteed from 8am on UK and Irish cards, extra each-way places, live streaming on funded accounts. £30 in free bets for a £10 bet, code R30, minimum odds 1/2. Visit William Hill
- Betway – the app, and depth on Premier League football, tennis and cricket. £40 in free bets for a £10 bet, but the qualifying odds are 2.00 and the money arrives as six separate tokens. Visit Betway
- 888sport – breadth. 35 sports including chess, politics and Gaelic games, plus 24-hour telephone support. £30 with code 30FXS, paid as three tied £10 tokens. Visit 888sport
- NetBet – market depth and speed. More than 400 options on one football match, withdrawals in 2 to 24 hours. £20 as four £5 market-specific free bets. Visit NetBet
- Dafabet – Asian handicaps, Gaelic sports and over 5,000 live events a week, with BOG on the racing. No welcome offer at all, which is the honest reason it is last on a list sorted by sign-up value and not last on one sorted by product. Visit Dafabet
Hollywoodbets is the newest British licensee here and the one to watch on racing: the South African parent is a racing business first, and the UK arm now sponsors fixtures at Goodwood. Visit Hollywoodbets
18+. New customers only. Terms and conditions apply. Gamble responsibly — begambleaware.org and GAMSTOP.
Read the offer, not the number
Welcome offers on this page range from £20 to £40, and the order of those numbers tells you almost nothing. Four things decide what an offer is actually worth:
- Minimum odds on the qualifying bet. 1/2 is easy. 2.00 means a short-priced favourite will not unlock anything.
- How the free bets are split. £30 as three tokens tied to racing, football and in-play is worth £20 to someone who never bets in-play.
- The clock. Seven days is standard. Six tokens in seven days is a bet a day.
- Whether the stake comes back. It does not, anywhere on this page. A winning £10 free bet at 2.00 returns £10, not £20.
What the 2026 wagering rules mean for these offers
Two rules came into force on 19 January 2026 and both are visible in the offers above. Wagering requirements are now capped at ten times, which ended the 35x and 40x rollovers that used to make casino-style bonuses close to unwinnable. And operators may no longer run cross-product promotions – a sports offer cannot be bundled with free spins. Comparison pages still advertising “bet £10, get £30 plus 25 spins” are describing an offer that no longer exists in Great Britain.
Before you open anything
Check the licensee name in the operator's footer against the Commission's public register. Every site here passes that test; a great many that advertise to British punters do not. You must be 18 or over, credit cards cannot be used for gambling in Great Britain, and identity verification happens before your first withdrawal rather than after – that is the licence working, not the bookmaker stalling.
Written and checked by the GBbet editorial desk
Licence numbers are checked against the Gambling Commission public register; bonus terms, minimum odds and payment limits are read from the operator’s own published pages. Nothing here is a personal opinion, and no page is rated by stars — how we work · about the desk.
