NetBet is the independent in a market of conglomerates. Launched in 2001 and still not owned by one of the big groups, it has built its British following on market depth rather than advertising spend, and it is the book that will price the fixture nobody else bothers with.

Licence and who runs it

NetBet holds licences from both the UK Gambling Commission and the Malta Gaming Authority. It remains independently owned, which in practice means smaller promotions than the groups can afford and a sportsbook that has not been homogenised to match a sister brand.

This is the most tightly conditioned offer of the five bookmakers here: £20 split four ways, each piece locked to one market type, all inside a week. It suits someone who already bets accas across football, racing and tennis. For anyone else the realistic value is a fraction of the headline.

Markets: the actual reason to be here

NetBet carries more than 400 betting options on a single pre-match football fixture, which is at the top end of anything available in Britain. Beyond football, the list runs to sports the household names simply do not offer – lacrosse is the standing example – alongside full horse racing and esports coverage. Building accumulators and combos in the bet slip is unusually painless.

Both are plain and quick. There is no attempt at the design flourishes that Betway and William Hill invest in, and for a lot of people that is the appeal – the bet slip is where you expect it and the sport list is a list.

Published withdrawal times are 2 to 24 hours across all methods, which is faster than most of the market advertises and one of the operator's better selling points.

Where it falls short

The promotions are thin compared with the groups, the welcome offer is the most restrictive here, and brand recognition is low enough that some people will not have heard of it. None of that affects the product.

Verdict

Open it for the market depth and the fast withdrawals, not the bonus. If you bet on sports or markets that the big four ignore, NetBet is frequently the only British-licensed book that will take it.
