How we work
GBbet is a guide, not a bookmaker. Nothing on this site takes a stake, holds an account or settles a bet. What the site does is read the documents that a bookmaker publishes about itself and put them next to each other, so that an offer can be judged before money moves.
The four sources, in order
The Gambling Commission register. Every operator named on this site is looked up in the Commission’s public register: the licence number, the account that holds it and the trading names it covers. An operator whose licence has lapsed or been surrendered comes off the tables, and its review page says so rather than quietly disappearing.
The operator’s published terms. Welcome offers are described from the terms page, not from the banner: the qualifying stake, the minimum odds, the wagering multiple, the games or markets that count towards it, the maximum stake while a bonus is live and the deadline. Where a term is ambiguous in the operator’s own wording, the page quotes it rather than paraphrasing it into something cleaner than it is.
The cashier page. Deposit and withdrawal methods, minimums, maximums and the stated processing time come from the operator’s banking or cashier page. Stated is the word that matters: a processing time is what the operator commits to, not what a queue will do on a Saturday.
The rules of the sport or the market. How a handicap settles, when a rule-4 deduction applies, what happens to an each-way bet in a reduced field — these come from the governing body’s rules and from the bookmaker’s own settlement rules, which is where the two can differ.
How the tables are ordered
Position in a table follows what the published offer is worth to a player in Great Britain and whether the licence is current. Two operators with the same offer are separated by the terms attached to it — a lower wagering multiple, a longer clock and a higher maximum payout are worth more than a bigger headline number. The order is the same for every reader; there is no personalisation and no paid position.
What we do not do
We do not open accounts, deposit money or time withdrawals, and no page here claims that we did. We do not publish star ratings, scores out of ten or user review counts, because a number like that suggests a measurement nobody made. We do not accept payment for a place in a ranking. We do not copy other comparison sites’ verdicts and present them as ours. We do not publish tips, predictions or “sure things”, and we do not tell anyone what to stake.
How the site is paid for
Some links to bookmakers are commercial: open an account through one and the operator may pay a
commission. Those links carry a sponsored mark in the page source, they cost the
reader nothing, and they do not move anyone up a table. If a commercial relationship ends, nothing
about a page changes except the link.
When a fact has no source
The page says nothing. A missing figure is left missing rather than filled with a round number, an industry average or a guess, and a claim we cannot point at a document for does not go up. That is also why pages here carry a checked date rather than a publication date dressed up as one: the date says when the sources behind the page were last read.
Corrections
Offers, licences and terms change without notice. If anything on this site no longer matches the operator’s own terms or the register, write to us through the contact page and it will be corrected or taken down.
